...Like Obi-Wan Kenobi said...

“If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.” {STAR WARS FANS! WHERE YOU AT?}

For those living under a rock, this is a quote Obi-Wan says this to Darth Vadar towards the end of the movie, Star Wars IV (the first installment in the original trilogy of 1977). Today I am thinking about this quote as it pertains to my own life.

>>> When I find myself in times of trouble, Obi-Wan Kenobi comes to me, speaking words of wisdom. Does anyone else experience this? >>>

Last week was tough. REAL TOUGH. According to my latest blood panel, I am officially a Type 1 Diabetic on paper and have begun taking insulin. Because I’m over 30, they are calling this disease something different by name: Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults (LADA), is a slow-progressing form of autoimmune diabetes. Like the autoimmune disease type 1 diabetes, LADA occurs because your pancreas stops producing adequate insulin, most likely from some "insult" that slowly damages the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas.

My abnormal fasting blood sugar finally reached dangerous levels (250 - 400 mg/dL) where “diet and exercise were no longer able to influence by blood sugar, thus we need insulin intervention.” As you can imagine, this has been very challenging to accept. I have cried. I have screamed. I have sat with the fear, stricken with worry and uncertainty. I have asked WTF? I have been in denial.

And then Obi-Wan’s voice came into my head — “If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.” — Yep. And then I was reminded of what @julie_k said to me once upon a time, something life: “The more holes poked within us, the more light is let in.” 🔥🙏🏽☀️💡Let that light in baby!

Thanks to @edlerjben, @rachmarsh.winks, @madisonraeholler and my brother, @tony.stoehr for your #T1D support last week. I am grateful for you and the other Type 1 Diabetics that I’ll lean for the rest of my life. #mytribe — Thank you to Dr Ma, my acupuncturist and @amykuretsky, my #breathwork coach for providing me with well needed stress relief.
